About the 15-yard
The 15-yard is a step up that still fits a standard driveway. It takes roughly half again what a 10-yard holds, which is the sweet spot for a single remodel or a packed garage. Not every hauler stocks 15s; if yours does not, we will tell you and price the nearest size.
Good for
- A kitchen remodel
- A garage or basement cleanout
- Roof tear-offs on smaller homes (single layer)
- Deck removal
- Flooring and drywall from a few rooms
Not the best fit for
Concrete, dirt or brick in most areas (those go in a 10-yard) and big multi-room renovations.
Loading tips
- Break down furniture and flatten boxes. Air is the most expensive thing to haul.
- Load flat, heavy pieces like doors and drywall first, then fill gaps with bags.
- Shingles are heavy. A small roof fits by volume, but ask us to check the weight allowance before you load.
Bigger or smaller?
A 10-yard holds about about 3 pickup loads; a 20-yard holds about about 6. If you are between two sizes, the bigger one usually costs less than a second haul. Compare all sizes.
15-yard dumpster questions
How big is a 15-yard dumpster?
Typically about 16 ft long, 8 ft wide, 4 ft high. It holds 15 cubic yards, roughly about 4 to 5 pickup-truck loads. Exact dimensions vary a little by hauler.
How much does a 15-yard dumpster cost?
Typically $350 to $600 for a 7-day rental, depending on your ZIP, the debris type and local disposal rates. That is an estimate; your quote gives one exact, all-in delivered price.
How much weight can a 15-yard dumpster hold?
The included weight allowance is typically 1 to 2 tons. Going over is billed per ton at the local rate, usually around $50 to $125 per ton, and the rate is listed in your quote.
Can I put concrete or dirt in a 15-yard?
Not in most areas. Heavy debris goes in a 10-yard filled to a marked line, because a bigger box full of rock would be too heavy to lift or drive legally.
Will a 15-yard fit on my driveway?
You need a flat spot about 16 feet long and 8 to 11 feet wide, plus room for the truck to back in (roughly 60 feet in a straight line) and clear overhead space.
