What a dumpster costs, honestly
Typical prices run from about $325 for a 10-yard to about $950 for a 40-yard. In high-cost areas, for heavy loads or long rentals, totals can reach about $1,300. Your exact price for your address comes with your quote.
Typical price by size Estimates
Typical ranges across US metro areas for a 7-day rental with the standard weight allowance. They are estimates, not quotes: prices vary by location, hauler, debris type and date.

|---|---|---|---|
| 10-yard | $325 to $550 | 1 to 2 tons | about 3 pickup loads |
| 15-yard | $350 to $600 | 1 to 2 tons | about 4 to 5 pickup loads |
| 20-yard | $375 to $650 | 1 to 2 tons (some areas more) | about 6 pickup loads |
| 30-yard | $450 to $800 | 3 to 4 tons | about 9 pickup loads |

Usually included
- Delivery to your driveway or job site
- Pickup when you are done
- The rental period you choose (7 days is common)
- Disposal up to the weight allowance
- Driveway boards under the wheels, from many haulers on request
What can add to it
- Overweight: typically about $50 to $125 per ton over the allowance, at local landfill rates.
- Extra days: often around $10 to $20 per day past your rental period.
- Certain items: mattresses, appliances or tires, where accepted, often carry a per-item fee.
- Street permits: set by your city, from free to over $100 in some places.
- Trip fees: if the truck can't place or pick up (blocked driveway, overfilled box).
What moves the price
- Where you are. Landfill rates and drive times vary a lot by area.
- What's going in. Clean concrete or yard waste can be cheaper; heavy or mixed loads cost more.
- How long. 3-day rentals can be cheaper; 30-day builds cost more.
- When. Same-week dates in peak season have fewer options.
How to keep the price down
- Pick the right size the first time. A second haul costs more than going one size up.
- Keep heavy debris separate and clean. A clean load of concrete or dirt is often priced lower than a mixed one.
- Break down furniture and flatten boxes. You pay for the box, so don't fill it with air.
- Keep the box covered in wet weather. Rain-soaked debris weighs more.
- Tell us everything up front: shingle layers, mattresses, a tight driveway. Surprises are what cost money.
Pricing questions
Why can't you show my exact price online?
Because it depends on things a price table can't know: which haulers serve your address, local landfill rates, your debris type, and the date. Rather than show a teaser price that changes later, we check and send one exact number for your job.
Are there hidden fees?
Anything that could add cost is written in your quote before you book: the weight allowance and per-ton rate over it, the daily rate for extra days, and any item fees. If something is not in the quote, you should not be charged for it.
Is it cheaper to rent a bigger dumpster?
Per cubic yard, yes. Bigger boxes cost more in total but less per yard, and one bigger box usually beats two hauls of a smaller one. The exception is heavy debris, which goes in a 10-yard regardless.
Do prices change by season?
Sometimes. Spring and summer are busy, and after big storms demand spikes. Booking a few days ahead usually gives you the best choice of haulers and dates.
When do I pay?
Only once you have accepted your quote and confirmed the booking. Nothing is due to get a price.
