Dumpster rental for a home cleanout
Clearing out a garage, a basement, or a whole house after a move or a loss is a lot of trips to the dump. A roll-off in the driveway turns it into one weekend: carry it out, toss it in, and we have it hauled away when you are done.
Sizes that fit home cleanout jobs
Most home cleanout jobs land between a 10 and a 30-yard. Our usual starting point is the 20-yard.

Which size for a cleanout?
A single room or attic usually fits a 10-yard (about 3 pickup loads). A packed two-car garage or basement is typically a 15. Whole-house and estate cleanouts with furniture land in the 20 to 30-yard range.
Furniture takes far more room than you expect. If a house still has beds, sofas and dressers in it, lean one size up.
What can go in
Furniture, boxes, clothing, toys, carpet, small household items and general clutter are fine. Mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture carry a per-item fee in some areas.
Electronics, appliances with refrigerant, paint, chemicals, tires and batteries are restricted. See the prohibited items list before you load.
Before you start
Set aside anything you want to donate, sell or keep first, so it does not end up under a sofa in the dumpster.
Have a plan for the hazardous stuff in the garage (old paint, pool chemicals, propane). Most counties run household hazardous waste drop-offs.
Debris type: household junk
Furniture, mattresses (fee in some areas), boxes, toys, clothing, carpet, general household clutter.
Some items can't go in any dumpster: paint, tires, batteries, appliances with refrigerant and hazardous chemicals among them. See the full list.
Home cleanout questions
Can I throw away a mattress?
Usually yes, but many haulers add a per-item fee, often around $25 to $75, because landfills charge extra for them. A few areas do not accept them in roll-offs at all. Tell us in your quote request and we will confirm.
How long should I keep it for a cleanout?
Seven days is the most common rental and enough for most cleanouts. If you are clearing an estate on weekends only, 14 days takes the pressure off.
Can I put an old refrigerator or air conditioner in?
Not in the dumpster. Appliances with refrigerant have to be handled separately so the gas can be recovered. Many utilities and retailers run pickup programs for old fridges.
